Guest Series 003: Fall Uniform with Emme Parsons
Building your uniform with inspiration from friends of Uniform.
This is a series of guest-featured newsletters where friends of Uniform share their philosophy on fashion, personal style, and their go-to pieces. I hope it allows you to find inspiration in different types of style, all grounded in knowledge of fashion and thoughtfulness for getting dressed.
This week I am featuring Emme Parsons who you may know of from her very chic shoe collection. Every time I catch her in LA or NY, her outfits are cool and minimal but also relaxed and wearable. She always finds the perfect version of essentials and things I need.
I have been such a fan of her shoe collection from when it launched in 2017. You can see me wearing them here and here. Her collections are classic and the styles are versatile. Her price for quality is truly unmatched in the market, all her shoes are made in Italy and Spain. She is excellent at making a shoe that is comfortable and looks great to wear all day and into the evening. I just ordered these for a good flat evening option and eyeing these shearling sandals for my LA winter.
Emme’s Fall Go-To Uniform
My current uniform is anchored by a pair of barrel leg brown Cos pants. Sadly, I just bought these and they are already sold out! My home is in Palm Beach, Florida but I travel to NY once a month.
I always look for pieces that transition easily from cold to warm climates. In New York I like to wear these pants with a simple, black long sleeve top cotton from Petit Bateau and our black suede Stretch Boots.
Some good alternatives to this outfit that Emme so kindly found! These Cos utility pants (I just ordered) and great Lemaire trousers. Skims (it’s just so good) long sleeve tee and you can’t beat a tee from The Row. Also like this neckline on this tee from Eterne.
When I’m in Florida I’ll switch to a Flore Flare tank or this white Uniqlo U t-shirt and our Folded Slide in Ivory.
This Lou Lou studio (I also have this one and it is great!) and Mango tank are great options. And if you are looking for a good oversized tee she recommends this one from Jung Maven.
The leg length of these pants is also ideal because they can be worn with heels or flats which eliminates the need for alterations and cuts down on packing. Another bonus is that they are machine washable which is a plus when you have small children and travel frequently.
My everyday jewelry includes a Shermanfield necklace, Kult Jewelry bracelet, a beaded bracelet my daughter made at preschool, and our 5 Ring Set which I wear on my fingers but also work as toe rings! The founders of Shermanfield and Kult Jewelry are both close friends and I love thinking of them every time I look at their jewelry. We also are about to launch this new Miravalle belt that I’ve been wearing nonstop. Fun fact: it was named after a hotel I stay at during factory visits in Tuscany.
My current bag is the Loewe Hammock Mini Bag. It looks deceptively small but holds a ton of things and is the perfect size and silhouette for day or evening. There are a bunch of TikTok and YouTube videos that review this bag and show you how to wear it three different ways.
Emme’s Approach to Style
My approach to dressing tends to be utilitarian and minimal. It’s a pretty straight forward formula comprised of basic yet special pieces that have interesting proportions and/or high quality materials. I’m also constantly editing and pulling things out of rotation to simplify getting dressed every morning. This allows me to channel my creativity and energy on my work. I love color though, and if I find a piece I’m really drawn to it’s always fun and mood elevating to have a bright pop here and there (see aforementioned bead bracelet).
I also get a lot of inspiration from menswear and wear a lot of oversized mens’ button down shirts, t-shirts and sweaters that create a relaxed silhouette. I like to pair these tops with something subtly sexy like a heel or a strappy flat sandal to create some visual tension.Â
Thanks to Emme for sharing her fall go to uniform- love how wearable it all is!
See you next week,
xo
