If there is any month out of the year where I want to disconnect and not think about what I am wearing it is August. I want to soak up the last month of summer and not have to bother with thinking about what I am wearing where or online shopping (/searching). It is usually ends up being busy with vacations, parties, and everyday life. And of course, I still want to look good for it all, have easy pieces that I feel great in and bring in that high summer relaxed feeling. If I wasn’t 9 months pregnant and hunkered down, I’d be planning my uniform by this month's calendar of events, I’d be excited about wearing below outfits and even more excited for the time to not think about any of it and enjoy the last bits of summer.
Summer Parties
It’s always the more casual dinner or lunch that catches you off guard. You want to look great for but not look overdone. I love this Cos red shirt to get refresh a few closet staples this month. Tuck or untuck it into this floral skirt (something very August about this skirt). I’m very picky about floral print, and this one gets it just right.
I love this Tove strappy shoe as a complement to pretty much any outfit, like this one but also goes well with a more minimal outfit (also shown below). It’s a great one to have in your uniform.
For a more traditional evening or garden party I love this dress—they really nail this kind of dress. What actually sold me was the construction on the top, in folds in so lays nicely along the chest and gives you that wide A-line, slightly retro, silhouette all the way to the hem. And because often we are traveling for this kind of events- same red shoes and same chic slightly yellow bag.
For Vacation or Anything Water Adjacent
I always think of beach and vacation outfits as more of a capsule wardrobe. Because even if I’m going to the beach for the day, I always throw in an extra layer or accessory. Recently I have been obsessing over this Attersee sarong- its stunning and I love something that is so practical but also chic. And another obsession: these Alaia slides—how pretty is the shape and cut-out toe? Such an unexpected alternative to a sandal. I keep going back to brown for swimsuits, and other high summer items- like this Massimo Duty dress. I love this Metier bag, it’s not necessarily a beach bag, but it’s definitely a chic one and transitions to your work tote or everyday “throw it all in tote.” And love it with this satin Loewe pouch, which you can throw into the Métier bag, and also use for a small evening bag.

Off Duty
I love having some off-duty looks in mind for the weekends or casual days. The COS top works great again here. It’s an easy throw-on, and feels relaxed with these beigey denim shorts—I think these shorts would be great again in September worn with a brown or black sweater. Same shoes here again, and paired with a silver earring to make the red more modern.
Work
Dressing for the office or a meeting is the last thing we want do in August but this is where a good uniform really helps. An easy set like this navy shirt and skirt combo is such a good bang for your buck with infinite styling options. I’d tuck the shirt into the skirt cuff the sleeves above the elbow, leave it unbuttoned kind of low for summer with a chain necklace. The skirt would be great with a white tee or tank and the shirt with a linen black trouser. I like it paired with a slightly beachier sandal- it is August after all!

Hopefully this covers some of your August itinerary!
