Lately my calendar has been busy with dinners and parties, these things tend to happen in waves in LA. And dressing for night can be hard. I have been reaching for the same pieces on repeat, of course styling them differently but all with a hint of 90s -my forever inspiration and they did party dressing so well. The pieces all have some shine- either silk, satin, or organza and I paired them with accessories that make them a little less elegant…a little bit cooler. To no surprise, the looks are all black.
I recently posted about satin for event dressing, but this take is more about dressing down these traditionally dressier textures. Styling with suede, leather, flats, and always keeping my hair and makeup natural (like our 90s icons show us above).
KALLMEYER BLAZER
This twill Kallmeyer blazer with a slight sheen is perfect for dinners. It has a cinched waist and falls open around your hips for a flattering fit. I like to wear it buttoned all the way up at the top. Wear it with jeans, High Sport pants, a straight skirt or wide-leg pant; it’s very versatile. I added a small Savette clutch for something slightly more feminine to offset the suiting separates.
