Uniform Concept 011: Button Down + Sweater
Building your uniform with classic staples.
To me, there is nothing more uniform than a button-down and a sweater. It’s the epitome of the uniform concept. I was reminded of this combo last week when Sarah Harrelson, amazing EIC/Founder of Cultured Magazine, posted a photo of herself wearing this and it was so perfectly put together. I also think of Prada store employees who are usually wearing some iteration of this pairing—and they are so sophisticated. Miuccia Prada wears it a lot, too.
That said, it can also read “chic server,” so it’s about finding the right balance. There are a few tricks to making it feel really intentional—it’s an outfit that seems so easy and effortless, but it actually requires the right pieces to come together in the perfect way.
