Uniform Concept 004: The Unexpected Items
Building your uniform with mini updates and the less considered items in your closet.
Sometimes the best things in my wardrobe are the unexpected things. Often, they are something that’s sitting in the back of my closet (or car... see below), something new I purchased that for some reason doesn’t immediately go into my wardrobe rotation, or a less obvious idea I came across. Below are a mix of these kinds of things I’ve been into lately that are reinventing my daily outfits.
Soft Grey Bag
I just got this soft grey mink colored leather bag, which is somewhat unexpected for me. I have never had a grey bag and this one has such a pretty tone. I have been wearing it with all black and this below combo of navy and black but I’m happily letting this slowly sink into my rotation and looking for new ways to mix it in.

Bordeaux Leather
It’s the color of Fall 2024. After Hermes showed a parade of looks in monochrome in this shade (indoors in the rain, sad one to miss in person) I wanted to jump sooner. I paired this amazing shirt with grey, because I don’t have bordeaux leather pants, and this felt a bit more relaxed for an LA weekday. I am excited to wear this more as a jacket with a button down underneath as well.

Pedicure Flip Flops
I mostly wear my ‘hiking sandals’ from The Row when I’m looking for a flip flop kind of thing. But as I was leaving a pedicure the other day, I realized I should also just wear these Havaianas (which I keep in my car for pedicures) more often, they are very comfortable. This pair is a bit narrower which creates a nice shape on your foot and has thinner rounder straps.
Idaho
As we know it… a bag, not a place. I love ginormous bags so I couldn’t miss this opportunity to get a good one. It has an inside pocket and a detachable zip pouch.

Pajamas
Miu Miu showed pajamas for FW24. I love the idea of throwing a really lux coat over cotton poplin PJs. For fall I will be keeping my eye out for a great double breasted long coat and calling my mom to find my graduation pearls.

Dainty Collar
Two weeks ago, I mentioned wearing more feminine, dainty things. This is a great example of how I work something that’s unexpected into my uniform. I really stick with the classics for everything else, letting the one detail be the point of interest in the outfit.

See you next week!
