Fashion month (6 weeks actually) came to a close last week and I was lucky enough to catch the last few days of shows in Paris. It had been a minute since I have been in a real city and attended back-to-back fashion events. It felt nice to dress for a city again- wearing coats that are meant to be the outfit, shoes that you need walk all day in, tailoring that is meant for standing not sitting, pieces that are meant to go from work to evening.

FW25 Clockwise from top left: The Row, Hermes, Calvin Klein, Alaia, The Row, Givenchy, The Row, Prada, Calvin Klein, Tom Ford

Alongside thinking about city dressing for myself, so many collections showed the same idea. Calvin Klein, Saint Laurent, The Row, Givenchy, Prada, and many more focused on the idea of everyday workwear, desirable clothing that we want to buy. All fit best for a city. Everything felt slightly exaggerated-shoulders were sharper, skirts were boxier, fabrics were lux with more texture. I left Paris feeling very clear on what my city uniform is (for my next trip), what it will look like come fall, and thinking about how I can wear it now in my ‘less of a city’ city, LA.

The Coat

I love a coat that makes you feel like you want to bop around all day in the cold. Obviously, it's warm but it also has a great shape. This coat from Alaia is perfect and its double face cashmere which will always be favorite fabric to wear because you feel like you are in luxury blanket that holds its shape. Also! It’s navy- perfect.

Alaia Coat, I went down a deep dive for more peplum coats from Alaia: here, here, and here.
